Family Visits

Sorry for the lack of entertainment, I have family visiting. We've been fishing, hanging out, participating in golf tournaments, etc. For some silly times, here are some shots.

From the so named "Sip n' Stroke" golf tournament my parents and family started years ago (it's only some golf with beer and doesn't imply anything else dirty...) here are some shots from the day we played. The turnout wasn't great, but that's what happens when somehow two strangers end up running a tournament amongst friends, and they set the date too early. I was one of the only younger people available (not at camp and working locally so I was there, not home) so I said I'd play if I could team with my father, and we thought the less people the more chance to win.

Though we scored a pretty good 39, both of us could have played better, and some of the very unfairly paired men won the tournament with a 34 (why they put two fantastic golfers together is beyond me - does nothing to level the playing field).

After that, family from Chicago dropped in for a few days and are here to enjoy our so far stretch of good weather (finally) out by the lake. After work today, me and a local friend and fisherman Zach took the two kids out to fish down near Camp Woodsmoke in echo bay. Little Jos caught the biggest fish of the day, and Anna took three from the water, while I only scored one - but at least everyone got something!

All summer of course, it's been the usual, family water skiing by, hanging out at the dock, and swimming at the beach to avoid the Iron Man downtown.

Cheers and enjoy the summer while it lasts. More to come!

What's to come: Trend/Fashion Rants?

There are few things I'm very opinionated about. I'd like to share them with you in some form of rant (though that doesn't sound remotely intelligent at all). On my old blog I had several, which I might edit and re-post here for laughs (including AA's slutty adds and 'Uggs Are Not Real Boots'). So, along with some oldies and goodies, here are some of the things I have planned:

Trend Rants:
"Leggings Are Not Pants" (and also 'tights are not pants')
+ WTF JEGGINGS
"Shorts With The Pockets Hanging Out?"
"Revelation of the Bra - Not Actually That Holy"

If you have anything to contribute, pictures or more topics, please tell me!

Also, please feel free to ask me anything at my tumblr, updated daily!
Cheers, rants to come :]

The Do It Yourself Spirit

Recently I've been working on a number of projects. While I'm busy working during days of the week, and drawing things at night, I have a few ongoing things I'd like to share. I have a few works in progress that are quite fun.

For the past few years, steampunk has continued to amaze me. I love Victorian styles and have a strange love for clock movements and roman numerals. I've finally got my butt in gear trying to get a steampunk gun together. Though most steampunkers are true craftsmen(women) and can put together a metal work of art, I am nowhere near that. (Others even spraypaint waterguns and make them look awesome, but I don't have the spray paint skills, or enough stills to distress the paint like metal). I have resolved to making mine from metal objects I've collected over the years, though none of them have handles yet, and this is still my problem.... but for now, with nothing attached yet, they look like this:

Along with my attempt at metal skills, I've been working on jewelry. I will be selling at an art fair up here in Lake Placid on the 18th of August, and I need to make more to sell! Though I've made several necklaces, this little bracelet made with watch bands and a mini vinyl I decided to keep for myself. What time is it? DISCO TIME.

Besides all of those fun things, I am also working on elaborating a jean jacket of mine. I rarely wear it anymore, but I thought if I jazzed up the back panels it might be more fun. Since I am currently working for an interior designer, I often take samples of discontinued fabric, and I have put together three panels here. Once I pin them, I will need to find a sewing machine, or if that doesn't work, use some kind of denim glue I read about. Anyways, once they are sewn on, the denim panel seems will still be visible dividing the fabrics. These are the ones I chose, lain on the jacket, with my makeshift pattern above I used to cut the samples with.

Sometime in the future, I also plan on making another color chart tank. Everyone's seen this one below, but thankfully, I was given another color chart at the end of the school year to take from someone who didn't want theirs. Once I can find a good blank tank to put it on, or maybe a tee this time, I can get started with this simple project.

So for now, cheers, and once I finish these projects I will be sure to share!

Apologies + More Vodka Shots

Apologies for the absence! Though I promised to be better about my time on the blog, my time on the internet has been devoted more to looking for glass rondel/rondell windows and faux bois tables. Which would explain why my picture of the day tymblr has fallen to shots of my cat and the sunset...

By the way, if you happen to have any rondel pictures, I'd really appreciate using them to show a client. I'm having the hardest time finding good examples on google, if they're 'so common' in Italy, how come there aren't any pictures of them?

At any rate, I've been working on photography for a local distillery my boss has on the side, and things have progressed until they are almost out of my hands, hooray! I've edited the photos and will be adding more later (text and minor things), but here's the shot they love most:

I've been having quite a time shooting these in the river, hopefully no one who passed me on the way thought I was having a bad day. But ah well, I'm happy to be shooting for someone! If you want more information on the vodka/business itself, let me know.

Cheers for now and more updates later, I have several shoots I want to post in the upcoming days!
