So, before I begin to blog my recent makings once again and remember to pay attention to this place, I need to bring everyone up to date.<br />
<br />
In August I went away to Ireland and Scotland for the first time. It was absolutely amazing! I have tons of pictures up and entries from every day - we drove around constantly and got to explore many places in both countries.<br />
<br />
To read my blog, check it out <a href="http://mcgrawtripuk.blogspot.com/">here</a>!<br />

After the big trip, I came home to an awesome gallery opening. My dad has been involved with a new place in New Jersey called One River, that is going to offer classes to teach all types of art to kids and even adults. I wish there had been a place like this when I was in high school - since schools like mine cared more about academics and less about art, our programs suffered. This is the kind of place people will want to go to further that education. They have a gallery component too where great artists can be shown, and pieces can be bought as well. Their grand opening was in September, and I got to shoot a bit of it! </div>

I also started an internship with a local history museum, where I had worked before shooting collections for their archives. I've started helping them out again this time, but instead of quilts, I'm shooting amazing garments dating back to the 1800's! Since then, I was offered a job to work with them as their administrative assistant, scoring at least a part time hours. It's better than nothing, and they really need the help. I'm glad to be working there!<br />

I've also managed to meet up with many awesome ladies in New York City who share my love of fabulous leggings in a Black Milk Clothing Meet-up. These first two shots were an epic shoot we scheduled in Central Park! Check out the <a href="https://www.facebook.com/JosephStreetPhotography">awesome photographer</a> who helped us out! :] I even got a shot with a fellow Black Milk friend, and the designer himself at a dinner later that night!<br />

<br />
Well, it's been a short update with a lot of photos, but I hope you guys are still with me! I am going to be posting more soon about up and coming clothing and maybe even some tattoo designs I've been working on, since I have been taking commissions since July. See you around!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03401829635226680598noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4294117218821793231.post-6812625802556834752012-07-24T18:57:00.004-04:002012-07-24T18:59:30.426-04:00Trying out Rainbow ShortsIt was time for my old jeans to become new. Cutting them super short for warm summers (well, they had a hole in the thigh), I distressed them a bit, though they didn't need much help. After only a little bleach (they were pretty light), I was ready to go. Here's what my setup looked like:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-wqSLrJzq71o/UA8msIL4F0I/AAAAAAAACH0/01_bPGKhd4c/s1600/IMGP7580.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="184" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-wqSLrJzq71o/UA8msIL4F0I/AAAAAAAACH0/01_bPGKhd4c/s320/IMGP7580.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nSclpvOQtxo/UA8mua95F1I/AAAAAAAACH8/2CoNNKCoC5Q/s1600/IMGP7582.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nSclpvOQtxo/UA8mua95F1I/AAAAAAAACH8/2CoNNKCoC5Q/s320/IMGP7582.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
My colors were already made in bottles, and as you can see, my little sample is down there. I have the baby booger thing, some gloves, activator, and urea water which isn't pictured here. I simply put these colors in some larger tupperware so that I could draw from them with the... booger thing. Haha I don't know the name for it, my bad.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5AVz7mG5Fx8/UA8nTcLq-3I/AAAAAAAACIE/6w4DRyZn5Ks/s1600/IMGP7583.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="211" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5AVz7mG5Fx8/UA8nTcLq-3I/AAAAAAAACIE/6w4DRyZn5Ks/s320/IMGP7583.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
After all that is done, I simply started spreading. The colors I used were from PRO Chemical & Dye, and were Ultra Violet, Bubblegum, Chartreuse (didn't show up much but was good for blending), and Aquamarine. I took off the gloves because I simply can't handle things with them on, they are so bulky. Though I do get funny colored fingers for a bit.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-FJzgAKkWEaA/UA8ne2s_-iI/AAAAAAAACIM/CcFp9bj3ru0/s1600/IMGP7584.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="208" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-FJzgAKkWEaA/UA8ne2s_-iI/AAAAAAAACIM/CcFp9bj3ru0/s320/IMGP7584.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-SOWPJJ0ReaQ/UA8ngSQVhFI/AAAAAAAACIU/A_BD7LSXcRU/s1600/IMGP7586.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="201" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-SOWPJJ0ReaQ/UA8ngSQVhFI/AAAAAAAACIU/A_BD7LSXcRU/s320/IMGP7586.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Here was the final result! They blended well, although look a bit faded in comparison to bright and wet dyes. These shorts however, were a very high percentage of cotton compared to my usual usage, so that is probably why.<br />
<br />

<br />

So - here we go!<br />
<br />
First thing's first, pick out your shorts or pants you want to dye. It is important that they are MOSTLY cotton, or another natural fiber. About 95-100% is the range you want to stick in for best results. For experimental dying and inconsistent coloring (best with dip-dying), the 85-95% range of natural materials is better. The non-organic materials to pull out other colors beneath the dye and create strange, uneven coloration. This is not a desired effect for most dying, but is fun for dip dying. There will be more on this below!<br />
<br />
Also always use gloves and an apron, unless you want your hands to be dyed funny colors for days, up to you, hahah.<br />
<br />
After you pick your chosen pair, either cut from pants or already shorts, you may need to bleach. I recommend Clorox which I always use, or something similar. In any given bucket or container, I do water it down, but only by half and half or slightly less water (three quarters dye to one quarter water). some folks on youtube like to spray on bleach, though I don't have a spray bottle so I've never tried this. Here's examples of things you can use to bleach:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-KHaTSqyfH9M/T_7xNGCY0NI/AAAAAAAACE4/BNdruTU-kFg/s1600/IMGP7345.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="215" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-KHaTSqyfH9M/T_7xNGCY0NI/AAAAAAAACE4/BNdruTU-kFg/s320/IMGP7345.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
If you have a pair that's already white - awesome, you don't need to bleach! If you have a pair that is a very light wash blue, you may also not need to bleach them, but will have to account for the slight color. However, that option often leaves your final product with a more interesting texture:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-UuBbdOC-0jQ/T_7xX8sPb7I/AAAAAAAACFA/fSDufbD0-JE/s1600/IMGP2756.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="223" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-UuBbdOC-0jQ/T_7xX8sPb7I/AAAAAAAACFA/fSDufbD0-JE/s320/IMGP2756.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
If you have cut them from pants however, there is a benefit. You get to test colors! When you bleach, simply take some squares cut from the pant legs that you can test. Here are a couple of example swatches I created once:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ExCvEINIFOs/T_7xYu4A5mI/AAAAAAAACFI/syg5k30zULU/s1600/IMGP3899.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ExCvEINIFOs/T_7xYu4A5mI/AAAAAAAACFI/syg5k30zULU/s320/IMGP3899.png" width="211" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
The dyes I use are from PRO Chemical & Dye, and are a powder you concoct. You can also mix powders to create a different color.<br />

However, to use this kind of dye, you will need a few other things first. Measuring tools, a measuring cup, and Urea are amongst these. If you are making rainbow shorts or using more than one color, we have these tools which apparently are actually used to pull out baby's boogers. I've never used one, but plan on it soon, and can probably be found in baby isles.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
To make the dye solution, you will first need to make Urea water. Take a quart (4 cups) of water and mix in 9 tbl. into the water until it dissolves. When you have done this, you will need to decide how dark your shorts are going to be. Pale mixes almost never work in my opinion, but medium and darks tend to be best. Since dye will wash out in the rinsing process, I often mix dark dyes to account for future washes (unless pastel shorts are desired). Here is a little chart that will tell you how to mix each shade you choose (it's not an exact science, no need to be OCD about it).<br />
<br />
For every ONE cup of Urea water:<br />
<br />
Pale - .5 tsp. dye powder<br />
Medium - 1 tsp. dye powder<br />
Dark - 2 3/4 tsp. dye powder<br />
<br />
Remember, you made 4 cups of Urea water, so be sure to multiply. Because I dye shorts, I often end up using 6-8 cups of water (to make sure the shorts can soak). Then I multiply the dye powder I need accordingly.<br />
<br />
Make sure you stir the powder in well, it can be kind of frustrating. When you are done mixing, you have three choices: full immersions for one colored shorts, dip dying, or using the baby snot tool for galaxy/rainbow shorts.<br />
<br />
Option one will look something like below. Agitate and massage the shorts in the bath for about 10 minutes when immersing.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-P_Hr9qMDXJI/T_7xZhcNIFI/AAAAAAAACFQ/Q7PMKdSnvkE/s1600/IMGP3905.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-P_Hr9qMDXJI/T_7xZhcNIFI/AAAAAAAACFQ/Q7PMKdSnvkE/s320/IMGP3905.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I often let mine soak for several hours, or overnight if I start later in the day/evening. After this, I will come back and make a dye activator solution (covered below after all the dying options) and cover the shorts in this. Then, I let it sit in a bag for several more hours before washing. Placing the shorts in the bag with the activator solution on will help it set. Wash whenever you feel comfortable or impatient! Though the longer you let it sit, the more permanent the colors will be.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-8IVWuJ1h6QE/T_7xvb0uRHI/AAAAAAAACHQ/zduuZMyTUQ8/s1600/IMGP7364.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="212" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-8IVWuJ1h6QE/T_7xvb0uRHI/AAAAAAAACHQ/zduuZMyTUQ8/s320/IMGP7364.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Option two will look more like this. Rig some sort of contraption to keep them suspended, whatever the angle you are going for may be. Remember to account for bleed. If you wet the fabric before dying, it will create more of a gradient. If you keep the fabric dry, as I often do, the change will be more abrupt. (The second shot is after washing.)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-OAOwqYvj3ZM/T_7xamOxKfI/AAAAAAAACFY/x6qW8YC9cCA/s1600/IMGP3966.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="199" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-OAOwqYvj3ZM/T_7xamOxKfI/AAAAAAAACFY/x6qW8YC9cCA/s320/IMGP3966.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hOTytLBOtBQ/T_7xbndBpdI/AAAAAAAACFg/iUQ-lN8BuVs/s1600/IMGP3972.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="205" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hOTytLBOtBQ/T_7xbndBpdI/AAAAAAAACFg/iUQ-lN8BuVs/s320/IMGP3972.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
You will need to leave them like this for some time to let the dye spread. Be sure to hang them accordingly once you have finished dying them, to make sure they don't disturb the white parts.<br />
<br />
I have not tried the third option, though I'm sure it is rather fun, and I plan on trying soon!<br />
<br />
Another optional dying is more experimental. I discovered a white pair of shorts in Walmart I wanted to dye, and noticed they were made mostly of a material called "Ramie." After having a friend look it up on her phone, we discovered this was in fact a natural material, and I decided to go for it. I chose to dip dye from the top. Because of the mix of materials, the dye underneath is often exposed better when dip dying (either dry or wet shorts). Here is the color powder I chose, next to the shorts I made:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-OTXqvzEuP4c/T_7xridcNPI/AAAAAAAACG4/KuvNL6u2PT4/s1600/IMGP7358.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-OTXqvzEuP4c/T_7xridcNPI/AAAAAAAACG4/KuvNL6u2PT4/s320/IMGP7358.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-OtxaaVHjUdY/T_7xmjNnnaI/AAAAAAAACGg/zc7Fp3Is3IY/s1600/IMGP7348.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="201" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-OtxaaVHjUdY/T_7xmjNnnaI/AAAAAAAACGg/zc7Fp3Is3IY/s320/IMGP7348.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Thanks to color test strips from my college studio, choosing has been made easy. Often dyes have other colors beneath that you can expose when dip dying. Purples of course have blue, and oranges tend to have bright yellows and some ochres beneath. Oddly enough, my next try may be brown - which for some reason I can't figure out, has blue beneath it:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-TKG16xZNmoI/T_7xqtQKFFI/AAAAAAAACGw/K99CCI3NCW0/s1600/IMGP7353.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="211" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-TKG16xZNmoI/T_7xqtQKFFI/AAAAAAAACGw/K99CCI3NCW0/s320/IMGP7353.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
After this, be sure to spot-bleach any areas you are unhappy with (using q-tips or small brushes). Since taking this photo below, I have removed the red speckles along the bottom hem:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-D4sKyVFmduc/T_7xpoGnMNI/AAAAAAAACGo/Lyz3J-xyd2g/s1600/IMGP7350.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-D4sKyVFmduc/T_7xpoGnMNI/AAAAAAAACGo/Lyz3J-xyd2g/s320/IMGP7350.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Once don dying, you need to make an Activator solution to set the dye. This will help it stay through future washes. For this, you take 1 cup of water and place 1.5 tsp. of Dye Activator powder or Soda Ash into the water, and stir well. You can make more of this solution if you feel you need. For extra coverage in immersion dying, you can pour this right into the dye bath (though if you do this, the dye bath cannot be stored and used again. In absence of activator solution, you can store and use again, saving you money, powder, and water!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-QqrN1bFnAkk/T_7xcr1ASiI/AAAAAAAACFo/cP9S90a0zNo/s1600/IMGP7336.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="212" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-QqrN1bFnAkk/T_7xcr1ASiI/AAAAAAAACFo/cP9S90a0zNo/s320/IMGP7336.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
WHEN WASHING - I always recommend either hand washing, or washing alone. They tend to always still bleed, even a little, and may dye other clothes. To help rinse the dye out on the end, I always throw them in the washer and dryer separately. Use colder water (delicate wash) to keep the dye longer.<br />
<br />
After the dying process, I often stud or sew on fabrics. Below is a sample of shorts I am currently working on, freshly dyed and sill sew soon. And below that is a pair I finished and sold this week, already white, then dip dyed, drawn on with sharpie (iron after to set), and splattered with white opaque pigment.<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<br />
Studs are often easy to find on Etsy, Ebay, or popular spike and stud stores online. I have always bought online because of location, and am unsure where to find them in person. Non-sew, pronged studs are the best for short-making, since all you have to do is poke them through the fabric and fold the prongs in to keep them in place. I recommend getting small jewelers tools to help with this, it hurts your fingers after a while. For spikes, power drills with appropriate bits, or spiking tools (things that will poke holes, or punch harder thicker fabric) are needed for spiking (which I have yet to try).<br />
<br />
For a complete guide to all of this and a chart for measuring, check my professor's handy sheet I snapped shots of for you guys below. Not all of these steps are really necessary, such as scouring the fabric (just make sure it's not dirty or anything), etc. Pick and choose what you will:<br />

<br /></div>
<div>
I decided for my own good and for the sake of a few online buddies that I'm going to post another DIY shorts tutorial. I did one already, and it had some good pics, but I feel like I should explain a little more how I go through the process. It's a bit different for me since my supplies have been cheap / free thus far and have largely been thanks to the textiles studio at my school (though this will soon change), but everything I use is still available to the general public provided you are interested. :]</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I will provide: More info on the dye and the company the colors are from, measurements and in-detail supplies you need besides just your shorts and dye, and more pictures!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I will probably not include studding just because I don't have any at the moment and need to order more, so I won't be able to show that off, but I'm sure you guys know about that. Prong studs, no sew-ons, are pretty easy to find (it's prices you have to hunt for). </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
If anyone shows any interest in spiking, I may try this on shorts someday provided I get the right tools. :]</div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03401829635226680598noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4294117218821793231.post-84194426351746947292012-06-30T15:33:00.003-04:002012-06-30T15:33:46.020-04:00Shoot at the Wild CenterI know, I've practically killed my blog by now. But I've been all over the place this summer! Even with the intention of blogging more about my final year of school work and other things, it just hasn't happened. And I should probably stop telling myself it will, unfortunately.<br />
<br />
But as for good news, I have had a successful final shoot with my students in this summer's fashion photography class. Being a teaching assistant and basically working for my friend has been a good deal! I am usually around just to help, but I couldn't help myself to take a few shots during our time at the Wild Center in Tupper Lake. Here's a few creepy black and whites I put together in a mini-series:<br />

Intaglio is a process I knew nothing about, but was glad to say I grew with during the semester. It was a love-hate relationship to say the least, and super time consuming, but here I will show off my prints in chronological order. It's been fun :)</span><br />

What an odd term. But if you're a Black Milk fan, you know what this means. I've been slowly building my collection of clothing from <a href="http://blackmilkclothing.com/">this lovely site</a>, based in Australia. The fan base is incredibly funky, supportive, and awesome. I love interacting with these girls, and of course, love the clothing. It may seem expensive to some, but I find that it's worth it. They make you feel like a million dollars!</span><br />

This part is my favorite - if I could dye things all the time, I think I would. Thankfully because I am in a textiles class, I have access to some pretty sweet dyes. This time, I was smart and dyed sample denim pieces that I had bleached along with the shorts. This way, I could test how colors would turn out, and what I wanted to do. Here are some shots of my tests for pair one (I picked the orange), and pair two (I picked the rose pink). I simply didn't expect the speckled patterns to hold up, since I would not be able to soak them for several hours.</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-m22GMScEumc/T1Ect6DE9LI/AAAAAAAAB2g/FslQSNDzWW4/s1600/IMGP3898.png" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><img src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-m22GMScEumc/T1Ect6DE9LI/AAAAAAAAB2g/FslQSNDzWW4/s320/IMGP3898.png" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5715380977111725234" style="cursor: pointer; width: 245px; height: 320px; " /></span></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KplWDaD6vno/T1Ecru9QjdI/AAAAAAAAB18/B3WiTMZ80dk/s1600/IMGP3909.png" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><img src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KplWDaD6vno/T1Ecru9QjdI/AAAAAAAAB18/B3WiTMZ80dk/s320/IMGP3909.png" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5715380939774791122" style="cursor: pointer; width: 235px; height: 320px; " /></span></a></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">Though I Have written myself a formula, the first thing to do is mix several cups of warm water and urea powder, making urea water. Then I mix in the right amount of dye powder. Sorry for a bit of blur in these shots, but if you have no idea what I'm talking about, here's what I'm using:</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-edMbPtl86PQ/T1EctLEQCOI/AAAAAAAAB2U/tZ2Z3MF5F2U/s1600/IMGP3901.png" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><img src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-edMbPtl86PQ/T1EctLEQCOI/AAAAAAAAB2U/tZ2Z3MF5F2U/s320/IMGP3901.png" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5715380964500179170" style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 208px; " /></span></a></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">After mixing the various powders and waters, I fill a small tub with it all, and make sure the shorts fit well. I agitate and shift them around for about 30 minutes (with rubber gloves! Though there is no doubt I still always get dye on my hands). After that time, I add in a warm water and dye activator mix, which will help the dye set, as well as fully cover the shorts so they can soak overnight and not miss any sections. The darker you want your shorts, the longer you let them sit. This orange pair sat for probably around 9/10 hours (overnight), and the second pair was dip dyed for about the same time. </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-I37CFhMFDcg/T1Ecse8_uCI/AAAAAAAAB2I/VkBYF41YBd8/s1600/IMGP3906.png" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><img src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-I37CFhMFDcg/T1Ecse8_uCI/AAAAAAAAB2I/VkBYF41YBd8/s320/IMGP3906.png" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5715380952658589730" style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 214px; " /></span></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-zfuMu9eX9IY/T1Edjx787II/AAAAAAAAB3Q/WmaEYFLPdjs/s1600/IMGP3966.png" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><img src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-zfuMu9eX9IY/T1Edjx787II/AAAAAAAAB3Q/WmaEYFLPdjs/s320/IMGP3966.png" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5715381902647291010" style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 218px; " /></span></a></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">Then what I do is I rinse them, stick them in a bag, and let them dry here at home. Since the dye never fully comes out with just the rinse, I stick them in the wash by themselves, and dry them in the dryer afterwards. I was lucky in that the dryer just destroyed my fringe on the orange pair, and it looked super awesome! When my other pair was finished, I got to sew my zipper on the front. Originally I planned to put extra fabric there, possibly white to match the side, but so far I have left it this way.</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Jd4OGy0nuqk/T1Ecqkq-QWI/AAAAAAAAB1w/96kEiMLA4xM/s1600/IMGP3912.png" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><img src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Jd4OGy0nuqk/T1Ecqkq-QWI/AAAAAAAAB1w/96kEiMLA4xM/s320/IMGP3912.png" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5715380919833870690" style="cursor: pointer; width: 238px; height: 320px; " /></span></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZlMRGfjSG1w/T1Edkk9fI_I/AAAAAAAAB3c/nUaTBYS_Its/s1600/IMGP3913.png" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><img src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZlMRGfjSG1w/T1Edkk9fI_I/AAAAAAAAB3c/nUaTBYS_Its/s320/IMGP3913.png" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5715381916343935986" style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 218px; " /></span></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ljtcIfIgpdw/T1EdjKmLy2I/AAAAAAAAB3E/-vsAc7UPm6I/s1600/IMGP3972.png" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><img src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ljtcIfIgpdw/T1EdjKmLy2I/AAAAAAAAB3E/-vsAc7UPm6I/s320/IMGP3972.png" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5715381892087008098" style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 234px; " /></span></a></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">I finally put studs on my orange ones, and called them done. This was the first pair I ever bleached, and for some reason, they took hours, while my second pair only took a matter of about 20-40 minutes. I will painstakingly now remove the studs, and cut/bleach/dye a second pair, and hope that I have some stronger denim this time! I really loved the orange pair, they were my favorites. </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Q49M2va26l8/T1Ed8cR_DeI/AAAAAAAAB30/I-Wy2cMtmtI/s1600/tumblr_m09q74oQXJ1qbmd31o1_1280.png" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><img src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Q49M2va26l8/T1Ed8cR_DeI/AAAAAAAAB30/I-Wy2cMtmtI/s320/tumblr_m09q74oQXJ1qbmd31o1_1280.png" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5715382326330854882" style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 221px; " /></span></a></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-L-9AFbI0Q0E/T1EdhmeatWI/AAAAAAAAB2s/Wb1kGSAHFas/s1600/IMGP4259.png" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><img src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-L-9AFbI0Q0E/T1EdhmeatWI/AAAAAAAAB2s/Wb1kGSAHFas/s320/IMGP4259.png" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5715381865210885474" style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 221px; " /></span></a></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZoQprX9zCok/T1EdiAv9DJI/AAAAAAAAB24/LMEdIAwwYDo/s1600/IMGP4258.png" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><img src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZoQprX9zCok/T1EdiAv9DJI/AAAAAAAAB24/LMEdIAwwYDo/s320/IMGP4258.png" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5715381872263761042" style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 221px; " /></span></a></div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">Soon to come are additions on this third pair. I chose a Printmaking class with an Intaglio based process. We started this semester learning lots and lots of processes, finally to start the first real assignment last week. All we were told is "myth," the one word left open ended for us to choose any myth from any culture we wanted.</span><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">With my arbitrary classics background I've developed, naturally I stuck to Greek myths. I chose the myth of Persephone, and the drawing for my plate ended up pretty Grateful Dead looking. I'm not against this, of course! Below: the left is the copper plate with my drawing traced onto the ground with red oxide, and ready to be dry pointed. On the right is my original sketch / plan.</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, serif; "><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-fRh-0239m4o/T0rfqvLqcnI/AAAAAAAAB1k/VdWICXNiwoM/s1600/425002_10151313483990177_815450176_22994847_62849725_n.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-fRh-0239m4o/T0rfqvLqcnI/AAAAAAAAB1k/VdWICXNiwoM/s320/425002_10151313483990177_815450176_22994847_62849725_n.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5713625002585780850" style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 227px; " /></a></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">Stages one and two are below, as well as what blocking out looks like when it comes to acid biting. I have just finished the third and final today (not pictured here), but have left it to dry and will take a photograph later this week. In the end, I wish the last stage looked a little better. But you can be the judge for yourself once I post that!</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, serif; -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: underline; "><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-uVOW3eSiZ_Q/T0rfqRnQisI/AAAAAAAAB1Y/Eu5qacp-7XE/s1600/395877_10151337568450177_815450176_23073354_585017840_n.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-uVOW3eSiZ_Q/T0rfqRnQisI/AAAAAAAAB1Y/Eu5qacp-7XE/s320/395877_10151337568450177_815450176_23073354_585017840_n.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5713624994648459970" style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 214px; " /></a></span></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, serif; -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: underline; "><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-HfEOD1JvxcM/T0rfqOtDKcI/AAAAAAAAB1M/-OrC_VuTcw0/s1600/423793_10151337567445177_815450176_23073351_1954962574_n.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-HfEOD1JvxcM/T0rfqOtDKcI/AAAAAAAAB1M/-OrC_VuTcw0/s320/423793_10151337567445177_815450176_23073351_1954962574_n.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5713624993867442626" style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 201px; " /></a></span></span></div><div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div></div><div><br /></div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03401829635226680598noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4294117218821793231.post-80150783036490584532012-02-26T20:31:00.003-05:002012-02-26T20:35:03.439-05:00News News News<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">Sorry for the lack of posting that's been going on, I've been having an awful time lately with sewing machines breaking and papers, etc. I have been waiting in the mail for some studs, which is why I haven't made the final post on my (almost) finished shorts. But the good news is, I have several other pairs I have picked up from the school's free clothing table, so there will be more to come this semester!</span><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">As for my senior project, I am well on my way on the third dress out of four. In the coming month, I will be shooting my portraits, finally! Those pictures will definitely be on here come the end of this semester. And I will actually finally explain this project, and what's been keeping me so busy.</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">For better news - I have a job this summer! I will be joining my friend and old professor Kyle Ford for his last gig at Skidmore College, assisting his summer photography classes. We will be having lots of fashion and digital printing adventures, according to the schedule. Applications go out soon, but I'm pretty certain I'm already in. Super pumped to be up here for a few more months! </span></div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03401829635226680598noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4294117218821793231.post-51766561482094257202012-02-14T20:06:00.003-05:002012-02-14T20:12:16.230-05:00DIY - Embellishing Shorts<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">While waiting for my studs to come for my other shorts, I busied myself making these. I'm taking a trip to Santa Fe this coming spring break, and wanted something a little southwestern.</span><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">I cut them from some old black jeans (I could have sworn they fit a little looser). I found a scarf with tassels at the free table the other day, and cut the ends off to sew them onto the bottoms. I also had some patterned fabric I placed on one side.</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, serif; "><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-C07W-SSZlSg/TzsFuQe-TvI/AAAAAAAAB08/XyNG82Q5-DY/s1600/IMGP4045.png" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-C07W-SSZlSg/TzsFuQe-TvI/AAAAAAAAB08/XyNG82Q5-DY/s320/IMGP4045.png" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5709163244879236850" style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 318px; " /></a></span></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">Stay tuned for more DIY. My studs shipment should be here soon!</span></div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03401829635226680598noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4294117218821793231.post-5915180247468777542012-01-30T23:15:00.004-05:002012-01-30T23:41:44.693-05:00Tattoo Design<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">In my spare time, I've been fond of taking tattoo commissions, as well as designing some just for fun. I haven't shown them off in a little while, so I thought I'd do a post about what I've been up to.</span><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">My biggest piece of pride is the design I created for my boyfriend, Max. I won't go into the true nerdiness of this Magic The Gathering Tattoo, but I was asked to compile the game's key elements together, to go on the back of his arm. My original design was circular, which I realized was dumb of me and would never fit - but I will post it here anyways, so you can see how it progressed. I then created a more linear one, which became the final. The shading I left to the artist, although I have gotten better at that myself. When he went for the first session, he told me the artists at our local parlor praised the drawing for being an apt body art piece, and not just a wonderful drawing that might look shitty on skin (apparently this happens a lot, I'm not surprised). I was super pleased!</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Pwv6QRf9bvo/TydwCUeKIEI/AAAAAAAABzE/gBpI_d3dTkY/s1600/MagicDesign.png" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Pwv6QRf9bvo/TydwCUeKIEI/AAAAAAAABzE/gBpI_d3dTkY/s320/MagicDesign.png" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5703650638245273666" style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 303px; " /></a> <a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-E15OKDhB81g/Tydwsf_riOI/AAAAAAAABzU/Y1qZwsBpn4A/s1600/IMGP1617.png" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-E15OKDhB81g/Tydwsf_riOI/AAAAAAAABzU/Y1qZwsBpn4A/s320/IMGP1617.png" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5703651362893170914" style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 258px; " /></a></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">After this, I took on a few other commissions. Recently, I drew this small piece for a friend of a friend, who was inspired by the water designs in my boyfriend's tattoo. She wanted a small sunset piece of the sun over the water to go on her hip, in black and white, with little shading. After eyeing both good and bad tattoos, and going back and forth, we decided on this little piece. She did not like the idea of rays, so this was my way of depicting the sun, so it didn't just look like a giant orb in the sky. </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QWB9EWNT4p4/TydwCA2z3pI/AAAAAAAABy4/-HSdv5DA-t8/s1600/Kelly%2527s%2BSunrise.png" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><img src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QWB9EWNT4p4/TydwCA2z3pI/AAAAAAAABy4/-HSdv5DA-t8/s320/Kelly%2527s%2BSunrise.png" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5703650632979963538" style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 280px; " /></span></a></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">But besides just these, I've been doing other larger pieces. I was referred to by a friend to a girl who wanted a tattoo up her side of a tree of life, inspired by her favorite tapestry that hangs in her room. Alongside it, she wanted Hindi text that reads "My Family, My Life," and in Hindi because of her time abroad. I went off the deep end with the original design (the DNA tree below), which I loved, but it was not for her. I continued it for myself anyways, but her tree morphed into something quite different. Originally, I designed the words on scrolls woven through the tree, but she disliked the idea of traditional scroll work, and liked it much better when I simply ran the text down one side. I'll post both here for curiosity. She hopes to get it this semester, and I hope to see photographs when it gets done!</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xXV9p7xPPXk/TydwAoTYrwI/AAAAAAAAByg/_g0cryrjU3M/s1600/IMGP1864.png" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xXV9p7xPPXk/TydwAoTYrwI/AAAAAAAAByg/_g0cryrjU3M/s320/IMGP1864.png" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5703650609209061122" style="cursor: pointer; width: 261px; height: 320px; " /></a> <a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-DOMBKzjbJU0/TydwAKFJBUI/AAAAAAAAByU/ozsE_5gWImg/s1600/Anna%2BTattoo%2B%2528mine%2529%2B2.png" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-DOMBKzjbJU0/TydwAKFJBUI/AAAAAAAAByU/ozsE_5gWImg/s320/Anna%2BTattoo%2B%2528mine%2529%2B2.png" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5703650601096250690" style="cursor: pointer; width: 272px; height: 320px; " /></a></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">I was also commissioned by a girl online to do a chest piece. She had sketches of ideas, but wanted them shaped into something more solid, and colored as well. Though I still remain half unpaid for this, we all learn from the first time taking online commissions - be wary of young people with no money and make them pay beforehand (did pay half upfront, but then dropped off the face of the planet when I finished the tattoo). Either way, I loved this design, and I'm proud of what I did with it. This was my first color commission. </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-o-lpI17mePk/TydwBRTsgRI/AAAAAAAAByw/oZOPg4exhK0/s1600/IMGP2640%2Bs.png" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><img src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-o-lpI17mePk/TydwBRTsgRI/AAAAAAAAByw/oZOPg4exhK0/s320/IMGP2640%2Bs.png" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5703650620216213778" style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 189px; " /></span></a></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">For fun, I've been designing pieces based on one of my favorite shows, Seinfeld. I have quotes saved from one of my favorite tumblrs, <a href="http://seinquote.tumblr.com/">Seinquote</a>. Deciding to work on created text, I took on the quote "They're real and they're spectacular," meant to curve under one breast. My text still needs work, but needless to say, it was fun to create my own and not rely on fonts. </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7F8VoRQH75Y/TydwsuJnenI/AAAAAAAABzg/vvTKfXDB1uc/s1600/Real%2Band%2BSpectacular%2Bcopy%2Bcopy.png" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7F8VoRQH75Y/TydwsuJnenI/AAAAAAAABzg/vvTKfXDB1uc/s320/Real%2Band%2BSpectacular%2Bcopy%2Bcopy.png" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5703651366692944498" style="cursor: pointer; width: 294px; height: 320px; " /></a> <a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-FFv2t9JnHc4/TydwtBCAndI/AAAAAAAABzs/_WNT3p--aFA/s1600/Real%2Band%2BSpectacular.png" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-FFv2t9JnHc4/TydwtBCAndI/AAAAAAAABzs/_WNT3p--aFA/s320/Real%2Band%2BSpectacular.png" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5703651371761311186" style="cursor: pointer; width: 293px; height: 320px; " /></a></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">My most recent work lies in another design for my boyfriend, which he wants as a chest piece someday. Before I took it in, it wouldn't start up, and looked like this:</span></div><div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--E4gTxek4Jg/TyXWAXAusFI/AAAAAAAABxk/UEK6iop7CTQ/s1600/IMGP3889.png" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><img src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--E4gTxek4Jg/TyXWAXAusFI/AAAAAAAABxk/UEK6iop7CTQ/s320/IMGP3889.png" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5703199804800020562" style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 210px; " /></span></a></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">Scary, right? Sometimes, it was even plaid, not stripes. Oh man. Unfortunately, my graphics card crapped out on me. But it was an easy fix, and for free! It took longer than I wanted, but now, I'm just glad to have it. </span><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">Stay tuned for more posts soon!</span></div></div></div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03401829635226680598noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4294117218821793231.post-74599487994003959942012-01-18T23:28:00.006-05:002012-01-18T23:46:47.629-05:00DIY Shorts Pt. I: Cutting, Bleaching, and Distressing<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">After cutting my first pair of <a href="http://carolynmcgraw.blogspot.com/2011/12/diy-short.html">shorts</a>, experimenting with distressing for the first time, and dying as well as studding (and even employing my mediocre sewing skills), I decided I wanted more. </span><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">I headed out to a local second hand shop, and bought the only two pairs of jeans I could find that fit me. Many other pairs were large, but if there had been more, I would have so bought them up (they were pretty cheap). One pair was plain, and the other a Guess pair with a peace sign on one back pocket. To my delight, the Guess pair had zippers on the bottom. Guess who will be making more zipper shorts?</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">Taking them home, I cut them. I left one pair long, having in mind I'd try fringing them. Fringe shirts have worked out well for me in the past, why not try bottoms?</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--o-xQQAEueU/TxedIwlfBCI/AAAAAAAABvs/_CLx3fSSjbY/s1600/IMGP3787.png" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><img src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--o-xQQAEueU/TxedIwlfBCI/AAAAAAAABvs/_CLx3fSSjbY/s320/IMGP3787.png" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5699196627267290146" style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 230px; " /></span></a></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">After cutting them, I threw the long pair in a bucket filled with bleach mixed with water. Here's a shot of the bleach I used, the bucket in the laundry sink, a beat up towel, and gloves. Make sure you're wearing something you don't care about, bleach splashes easily!</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EdXv03Qm82I/TxedIVkWdDI/AAAAAAAABvg/o87oiMKbUVI/s1600/IMGP3790.png" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><img src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EdXv03Qm82I/TxedIVkWdDI/AAAAAAAABvg/o87oiMKbUVI/s320/IMGP3790.png" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5699196620014777394" style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 214px; " /></span></a></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">I had no idea how long it would take, but after an hour passed, I added the rest of the bleach. Oddly enough, the long pair took most of the afternoon, and turned a very pale yellow. Expecting the second pair to take just as long, I threw them in and left the room. Within half an hour they were white (which surprised me when I returned to check up on them). I still have no idea why the first pair took so long, but I suppose I'll never know. Below is the first pair soaking, and the second pair white. </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--I3OumG0g_o/TxedJQyhWYI/AAAAAAAABv4/f0o0KCRrFSw/s1600/IMGP3792.png" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><img src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--I3OumG0g_o/TxedJQyhWYI/AAAAAAAABv4/f0o0KCRrFSw/s320/IMGP3792.png" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5699196635911903618" style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 214px; " /></span></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KPNBn1ftzjU/TxedKAqPXcI/AAAAAAAABwQ/t_PNFcWSTIk/s1600/IMGP3794.png" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><img src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KPNBn1ftzjU/TxedKAqPXcI/AAAAAAAABwQ/t_PNFcWSTIk/s320/IMGP3794.png" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5699196648762072514" style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 217px; " /></span></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-E84lX0BPn68/TxedJuT2LtI/AAAAAAAABwE/RxWR9rnKj2A/s1600/IMGP3793.png" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-E84lX0BPn68/TxedJuT2LtI/AAAAAAAABwE/RxWR9rnKj2A/s320/IMGP3793.png" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5699196643836309202" style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 214px; " /></a></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">Last time I dyed my shorts, I expected a mustard color, closer perhaps to a brown, especially after using dark yellows to dye my shorts. I was surprised when they came out a little more green - but of course, I had not bleached them, and thought the light blue wouldn't effect it so much. This time, I got smart and bleached test strips cut from the legs, that way I can test dyes on them to make sure I have the colors I want. Below is what they looked like unbleached. I left one zipper on the front of that one short leg, showing how I plan on sewing it. I will cut out the middle, and probably sew fabric between the zipper (after dying the shorts).</span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-MRrgz8lAG4s/Txee7lxUw7I/AAAAAAAABxM/ggQGirsWNrI/s1600/IMGP3818.png" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><img src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-MRrgz8lAG4s/Txee7lxUw7I/AAAAAAAABxM/ggQGirsWNrI/s320/IMGP3818.png" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5699198600049116082" style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 218px; " /></span></a></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">Shortly after, I began to cut the fringe on the legs of the first pair. </span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-IL9CbX2zDLc/Txee7KJRNgI/AAAAAAAABxA/BoJ9Cxx_z9k/s1600/IMGP3820.png" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><img src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-IL9CbX2zDLc/Txee7KJRNgI/AAAAAAAABxA/BoJ9Cxx_z9k/s320/IMGP3820.png" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5699198592633353730" style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 217px; " /></span></a></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">This made a lot of lint...</span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-yXAUAo-APBw/Txee62mzLQI/AAAAAAAABw0/t8nqJo0Lulw/s1600/IMGP3822.png" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><img src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-yXAUAo-APBw/Txee62mzLQI/AAAAAAAABw0/t8nqJo0Lulw/s320/IMGP3822.png" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5699198587388505346" style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 214px; " /></span></a></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">While shortening one end, I accidentally cut one fringe. My ideal was to save all of the money I'm getting, and only spend using gift cards I've gotten for Christmas on fun purchases (the truth is, I don't NEED anything more, especially clothing). </span><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">I've broken this resolution a few times already.</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">I am planning on letting it take effect when I get back to school. But for now? I treated myself to a few last things.</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">Just today, I bought two great things. I hadn't looked at Threadless for a few months, and remembered it today after running into a frequent tee designer on DeviantArt with some cool things. Browsing pages forever, I wanted so many. Since so many designs were on sale, many of the ones I had my eye on were sold out in my size. A few were just the wrong color for my skin, despite being a great design (I just can't do beige tees). But I settled on <a href="http://www.threadless.com/product/3185/I_Got_5_on_It">this one</a>.... unusual, but too wtf hilariously awesome to pass up. I saw that there was only one left in stock, and it was my size. Meant to be!</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xfolH5CEUEQ/TxERZ0lwHrI/AAAAAAAABvI/3USkrdUfyCs/s1600/636x460shirt_girls_01-1.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><img src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xfolH5CEUEQ/TxERZ0lwHrI/AAAAAAAABvI/3USkrdUfyCs/s320/636x460shirt_girls_01-1.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5697354138911776434" style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 231px; " /></span></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">A few hours later, camera accessories and nerdy items came up with my cousins when I went to go visit my aunt's house. She and my uncle had just received large canvas prints of three of my photos to hang, which will be going in their upstairs hall. It looks super awesome, and I will be posting on those soon. But after some visiting and Internet browsing, I settled on using a bit of the money for the above commission to buy something nerdily camera related that I've wanted forever - Photojojo's <a href="http://photojojo.com/store/awesomeness/nikon-lens-mugs/">camera lens mug</a>.</span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">I have a Pentax, and sadly no one likes Pentax, so there was no mug for us - but the Nikon one was definitely my favorite of the options (two types of Nikon and Cannon lenses). I will be working a lot, and hopefully should be making some pretty fun things (this includes clothes AND photographs)!</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">But to make up for neglecting my blog, and some of my lamer entries these past few months, I wanted to share a blog written by a friend of mine who has a lot of cool things to talk about. If you like reading about strange animal facts, scary movie magic, and how to potentially control your dreaming, you might want to check out <a href="http://notesofranvier.blogspot.com/">Notes of Ranvier</a>. </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">I don't know how people come up with this kind of stuff. People who manufacture helmets are looking at Woodpeckers for inspiration, and resources on lucid dreaming suggest you can become a practiced dreamer by learning to control certain aspects and actions of your dreams. In the end, I'm the kind of person who loves learning random stories and facts like this. It's inspiration for something to talk about with your friends with at dinner, or possibly to read about further just for fun. </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">To get the story on this odd looking creature, you're going to have to take a read! :)</span></div><div><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-8gFLcvKNJPQ/TwzClsc3V4I/AAAAAAAABu8/UQLfrQwfpfc/s1600/950233_CuttleFishMBA_ASLO_RS.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-8gFLcvKNJPQ/TwzClsc3V4I/AAAAAAAABu8/UQLfrQwfpfc/s320/950233_CuttleFishMBA_ASLO_RS.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5696141581560010626" style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 194px; " /></a></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03401829635226680598noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4294117218821793231.post-64902438647990044102012-01-01T23:27:00.006-05:002012-01-01T23:39:41.233-05:00Scenes from Jupiter Island, Florida<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">This New Years I've been down in the warmth relaxing for a few days. But of course, it's only natural that I spent my first day of 2012 photographing.</span><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">My uncle has been thinking about hanging some photographs down in his house here, where we are currently staying. They are having trouble finding nice paintings, but want something to cover all the wall space in the various bedrooms. What he wants most is nice scenes from around the area. </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">Though I've spent most of my days here reading by the pool or relaxing on the couch, today I got off my butt in the afternoon to cart around in search of good shots. Yes, golf carts are allowed on the roads here on the island... but it's quite fun. </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">I have a few more places I didn't get to hit before the sun went down, but here are some iconic places here that I thought he would like. cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HiHHnIItlzg/TvpkCWMVKBI/AAAAAAAABsE/sC-rFhTfkVU/s320/fa4797382f4011e1a87612313804ec91_7.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5690971070615857170" /></a></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">For anyone who isn't quite sure what this is, it's an apple-made app for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. It allows you to take photos, which are always in square format, edit them with some filter options, and post them on a page you develop. Best part? It's free. It also includes a touch of social networking - similar to tumblr, you can follow other photographers, and they can follow you. You can also tag your photos with the typical hashtags (#winter, #cute, etc) so people can come across you work in searches.</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">As far as I can see, this little program is fantastic for many, but a touchy subject for others. Real photographers get a bit pissy over it because there are tons of teenagers with iPhones who claim they are great photographers because they use Instagram. Of course, by no means is this little thing a substitute for a nice DSLR or film camera.</span><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-GnN8OrL9bz0/TvpkCkAxtRI/AAAAAAAABsQ/-Vi638HoBF4/s1600/82781a762f5d11e1abb01231381b65e3_7.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-GnN8OrL9bz0/TvpkCkAxtRI/AAAAAAAABsQ/-Vi638HoBF4/s320/82781a762f5d11e1abb01231381b65e3_7.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5690971074325493010" style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 320px; " /></a></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">However, I think it's a step up for phone cameras. Frankly, my phone takes pretty shitty photos. When I was gifted the iPod touch for Christmas, my natural inclination was to turn this music device into yet another camera. What can I say, I am me. After downloading all my music, I got this free app, and went crazy. I've enjoyed taking holiday photos, and family photos, and this device will quickly replace my phone for taking quick shots in public. Since I don't always carry my big DLSR with me, this gives me the opportunity to take shots when I'm out with friends. Instagram also makes life easy when emailing pictures to myself or friends, so I can have them on my computer.</span></div></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, serif; "><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-EVmEDn8HC7A/TvpkC_l3IfI/AAAAAAAABsg/xnZWKQTbkHY/s1600/614b8b242fff11e19e4a12313813ffc0_7.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-EVmEDn8HC7A/TvpkC_l3IfI/AAAAAAAABsg/xnZWKQTbkHY/s320/614b8b242fff11e19e4a12313813ffc0_7.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5690971081728795122" style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 320px; " /></a></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">As far as I can see it, it's a win win. Since this is rather outrageous, I thought I'd give my own pair a try.</span><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">First, I went about cutting some old skinnies into shorts, since I never seemed to wear them anyways. The best part about the pants however, was the zipper detail at the bottom. I decided to save those for ideas later. When I'd cut them up, I borrowed a friend's switchblade and began to distress them - though I proved not to be very good at this. What was supposed to be exposed white threads (which would color when dyed) just turned into frayed holes. Thankfully, they still look ok.</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">I then took them into the art studio at my school, where I sewed on the zippers to the sides of the shorts, and cut out the fabric between them. This makes them a bit scandalous when wearing... but I need to figure out a lace short or something I can wear underneath. After this, I dunked them in a yellowy dye, which was a mixture of a golden color and an ochre yellow. Expecting them to be a bit more brown, I was a little surprised when they came out more green than ochre, but I didn't bleach them at all, and the light blue on the jeans must have turned the yellow a bit green.</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">After letting them dry and putting them through the wash one more time, I bought some studs on Etsy, and studded them up, like everyone else. Given this image is an exaggeration for most, for some... clearly it's not, and that's scary. The media represents people that look like this every day on TV and in magazines. There's every kind of way to get a fake tan, or put implants in various places in your body to make them "look better." </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;font-size:100%;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;font-size:100%;">And yet, there are those of us who think the kissy-face fake girls are delusional. Why are those who have sleeves or look like the girl on the right trashy or scary to many? Why is having a fake tan, poorly done highlights/bleach jobs, and potentially plastic surgery better than having tattoos and interestingly dyed hair?</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;font-size:100%;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;font-size:100%;">Why does the majority of my country aspire to be fake in every way?</span></div><div><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JECa2kaokhU/Tt6QItPev7I/AAAAAAAABo8/UvvzifwdrS0/s1600/Picture%2B2.png" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: none; "></span></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JECa2kaokhU/Tt6QItPev7I/AAAAAAAABo8/UvvzifwdrS0/s1600/Picture%2B2.png" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 188px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JECa2kaokhU/Tt6QItPev7I/AAAAAAAABo8/UvvzifwdrS0/s320/Picture%2B2.png" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5683138259046023090" /></a></div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03401829635226680598noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4294117218821793231.post-86171923874451247522011-11-24T02:06:00.002-05:002011-11-24T02:10:20.612-05:00Stuff - My New Boutique<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">Hello all!</span><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">I have begun a <a href="http://carolynslittleshop.weebly.com/">little boutique</a> where I am selling my wares - including everything from clothing to jewelry, and accessories to custom orders. </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">Here is the link, and I plan on having many more things up soon, more jewelry, shoes, blouses, skirts, outerwear, belts, bags, and <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">bandannas</span>. Still in Beta, you can only join by invitation, but I was lucky enough to score one. After uploading your pictures, your art is available to the web for customers to buy high end prints, cards, and posters. For every sale, they are made and shipped by a a third party, without my involvement (thank god). I earn a royalty for every sale, a percentage I decide (though the higher you go, the higher your part is priced).</span><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" ;font-family:Georgia, serif;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-IoK4eS0jcuk/TrB98eda7-I/AAAAAAAABj8/zkMNnobORgY/s1600/_IGP2959.png" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-IoK4eS0jcuk/TrB98eda7-I/AAAAAAAABj8/zkMNnobORgY/s320/_IGP2959.png" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5670170408781541346" style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 214px; " /></a></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">I am slowly building a collection to display. I get the impression this crowd is more for decoration arts, and keeping this in mind, am uploading things for a more domestic audience than necessarily an artsy one. Though we're all artists on the site, I am catering a different set of images than those I would put on places like Deviantart. </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-giX3n7mXnxY/TrB9TY2LeiI/AAAAAAAABjw/y6SYGsh5FKQ/s1600/_IGP3089.png" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><img src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-giX3n7mXnxY/TrB9TY2LeiI/AAAAAAAABjw/y6SYGsh5FKQ/s320/_IGP3089.png" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5670169702900136482" style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 230px; " /></span></a></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:verdana;">I have been primarily focusing on black and white works thus far. Though I will be uploading some of my favorite color images later, for now, these seem to add a classy edge to my gallery. I have been pulling images from Lake Placid, Carmel, Big Sur, Hobe Sound, and all over. It's very fun, and I hope to start making some sales soon. By all means, if you need an artistic gift, or some black wall space that needs to be filled - that's what I'm here for! <a href="http://www.artflakes.com/en/shop/carolyn-mcgraw">This is my shop :)</a></span></div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03401829635226680598noreply@blogger.com0
